Kingsguard Ambition (for AI)

Tired of not getting any knights from great houses on your Kingsguard if you play long enough?
Are all the best fighters getting married/landed straight after they turn 16?

not any more

Kingsguard Ambition


Image

Featuring:

- A new ambition for the best kingsguard material, which prevents them from getting married and gives them loads of prestige if fulfilled.
- Pretty balanced system for getting the AI to pick this ambition if the character is good enough.
- If the person gets chosen for the Kingsguard, he will not refuse.
- The person can still inherit land, and if he does, the ambition fill be cancelled.

Coming in version V2:

- Trying to get this ambition to work with kids too, and give them increased change of getting a better combat trait.
- Balance the system even more.
- Ability for AI to refuse a landed title if he wants to be in the Kingsguard more than have land.
- Prevent event marriages.

Warning for Congenital Overhaul User, there's double file that will overlap each other on common\objectives\00_ambitions.txt and events\kingsguard.txt

Need compability patch for making sure both mods works properly.

That was quick :shock:

I have been comparing both txt file, there's large difference especially in kingsguard.txt file.
Do you think with compability patch added, the mod will work the way you intended to be ?

Sorry i have a lot asking, because i can't use my main computer atm.
So i didn't test the mod myself.

Totally forgot about the kingsguard file. I updated the patch and now there should be no problems.

For some reason , none of the non-landed courtiers have KG ambition , I LITERALLY checked every single person for the ambition , but no luck .

Only non-laded courtiers CAN have this ambition. Are you using any other submods? And sometimes there isn't anyone with this ambition anywhere, it's very rare though. Best way to check is to search for "forbid" in the character search.

Good sub-mod. Also have some suggestions.
to add on ambition object next:
NOT = { trait = slave }
NOT = { trait = weak } (now saw this one, or make factor 0.05)
NOT = { trait = craven } (i think craven will never want to become KG, or at least make factor 0.05 not 0.5)
NOT = { trait = lustful } (i see factor 0.1, but same as previous because if he touch woman - king can cut his head)
add factor 0.5 to rude (arguably but maybe)
add factor 0.2 to NOT = { top_liege = { title = e_iron_throne} } (or something like that, should work)

And also be good when you choose new kingsguard instead "Choose from among the strongest fighters in the realm."
make a choice from people that has_ambition = obj_become_kingsguard . only need to edit option on event kingsguard.2 and edit event kingsguard.3

make factor 0.05 if character NOT = {martial = 10(or 12)}. its also logic i think.

imho, this factor a little to big. Due to this all previous factors like selfish, slothful etc are useless may be better make factor = 5? (arguably but maybe)
and better make separate txt file for your object ambition, to be your sub-mod more compatible with others.

Hey tze! I recently updated Legendary Warriors to 1.1.2 and have edited the two files "kingsguard.txt" and "00_ambitions.txt" because I use LW with Kingsguard Ambition and there is a file conflict with the two, is it alright if I create a version that includes those two files for compatibility with your mod?

You have a submod which modifies the kingsguard event file. Or there isn't anyone with the conditions met which is highly unlikely.

This is good. I updated my mod and now it only affects the kingsguard.txt file, you should probably edit your files too.

OK cool, I'll put up a version in tem's thread that has compatibility with your mod.

Edit: Also, is there a way to make LW more modular? I'm unsure on how to separate out ambitions as LW affects the base AGoT ambitions as well.
