Are we going to see an update to this for the new patch? I really can't stand the default portraits they drive me mad.

Did you check if it needs to be updated?
I just started a new game with it and at least it didn't break right away, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

It looks like the German and English portraits are already included in this mod's version. So far it looks like the Stormlands, maybe KIngslanders use German while Riverlands, Westerlands, and Reachmen use English.

I was optimistic at first, but after several years my game crashes without warning on a specific date, regardless of my play through. Running no other mods, and everything else checks out, so it probably has to be updated.

There are several ctds on specific dates reported as bugs with the 1.4 update so it might not be related to this mod, someone suggested deleting unoccupied_province_events.txt from the events folder fixed it but it has a lot of events about ruins in it so i don't know if this will break something else.

I think it's better to wait till 1.4.1 for a serious playthrough

Yeah, I forgot about the pictures when updating the other links. I'm fixing it.

On that note, if anyone has the time, will, inclination, energy and capability, I'd love pictures showing off the portraits missing them.

If this it turns out this needs to be update, (I think the only thing I overwrite is the culture files, which I don't think should be game breaking) send me a PM as I'll respond faster in that case.

They are?

For me the only culture using the new portraits are Former Southron, which uses the English ones. I played around with the files a bit to make all First Men south of the wall use those (let's face it, the Norse portraits are ugly as all hell) and that seems to have worked. Well, sort of, they don't use the northern outfits anymore, which is a shame, but at least their faces are tolerable.

Not knowing a thing about modding I tried something similar for the Andals but that didn't go too well. The new portraits showed up but every man is a monk and every woman a nun. Guess I need to mess around with that some more or wait for the submod to update.

The only bug I've found with this unexpected change is the English/Reach/Westerland/Riverland's battle armour isn't aligned with the portrait so it looks like they're trying some hybrid Ghiscar robe/plate armour mix.

I'm not sure what the "AGOT Units submod" is (and neither is Google apparently) but I'll probably just wait for unsavory to update this mod instead of hoping for random portrait changes from unrelated mods.
Trying it myself led to... mixed results... including the armor not lining up properly like you experienced as well.

I'll probably update this weekend if I have what I need, but :!: I NEED YOUR HELP :!:

I don't have the DLC or even have the game installed, so...

In order to add the German and English portraits to a culture I'll need some information from the DLC.
The names of the spriteType references.
I am horrible at explaining these things, but maybe take a look here if you don't know about portrait modding.
The necessary files should be in the .../Crusader Kings II/dlc folder under dlc070.

Again, not asking for the files (that's illegal) asking for the references in them, e.g. something akin to "GFX_celtic_male_base:p2". Though for the German and English portraits.
I could guess it would be a very slow process

I think that's all I need, except for some input on which culture should use which portrait.

We'll see how it goes :D

English portraits for First Men south of the wall?
That's just personal preference though since I really don't like the appearance of the Celtic portraits (or the Russian ones either for that matter). I mean you can make decent looking characters with em, but on average they seem rather... froglike.
I'd probably use the German portraits for the rest of Westeros, except Dorne of course, simply because I like them a lot better than the old Western faces.

Alternatively you could leave the North as it is and just alternate between German and English portraits for the rest of Westeros (again, except Dorne). Using the new portraits on some obscure city state half a world across would probably be a bit of a waste, unless the majority of players start out in the Essos hinterland these days.

Well I think I know what to do with it. Quick Northman Alternate using the English (Leaving Wildling and those that use the same portraits as is), German for Andals with an Alternate using English for the Andals, or vice versa.
Should be able to get this done tomorrow, and hopefully it'll work as intended right away. :)

I think you broke the noses on females for the English alt version of the First Men though. The men look great but the women are... smudged.
