The new english portrait pack would look better with the andals and valyrians right? and looks much better than the old ones, just a few edits would be perfect

The base mod will never use DLC packs for the base westerosi portraits, the main reason being is that it would make them a requirement to play the mod, as the portraits would have to be modified to include maester, kingsguard clothes, AGoT crowns, clothes etc. We have always had a philosophy of not making the mod require any DLC.

When they finally finish updating the game do you think you'd ever consider releasing an official DLC portrait alternative at that point? Or would it be too much work? It just sucks that you either have to choose between unique DNA characters or actually decent base portraits.

Isn't there a "reserve" portrait mechanic in CK2 (called "fallback" I think)? In vanilla, if you have the East African Portraits but you lack the West African Portraits, the game will use the former for Mali/Ghana/Songhay instead of the generic Arabic ones.

That works if you use the DLC portraits as they are unmodified. But if you want to make them suit the mod, add crowns, clothes etc, this does not work.

yeah an alternative portrait will be great, im really weird out when the andals and all valyrians reach middle age, the face changes so much its does not suit the characters anymore :(

Always fun to hit 30 and suddenly look near 60.

That is less our fault and more that the default portraits are not really set up in the best way in vanilla. You have child, adult then old when it comes to portraits.
And as old accounts for a large time frame it also has to work for the extremes.
Best way would be to have portraits change every like 10 years or something but that is a massive pain so I can understand why it is not like that.
