I tried downloading it, but it won't let me save it directly into the folder you specified. It just opens it into the download folder and I can't access it at all. Suggestions?

So I finally had some time to try this. I downloaded the file using notepad, then saved the new notepad in the folder you specified, and copied it over the original "defines" document in there. Now when I go to select a player on the load screen, the game immediately cancels the selection and I can't play with anybody.

Is the patch instaled ? You can't start a new game or a save game ? I think the problem is not that, there is 2 files named "defines" one is .txt other is .lua you need to replace the lua files not the txt the defines.txt is about the start date of the game and thats probaly why you dont even cant pick a character. you have to restore the original defines.txt file it looks exactly like this :
Code: Select all
start_date = 7999.1.1
last_start_date = 8299.2.11
end_date = 9999.1.1

character = {
}

diplomacy = {
}

economy = {
}

military = {
}

May I ask for a mirror on a host like mediafire? Its free of frills and wouldn't give me some lame thing that says my IP has reached its usage limit when I haven't even visited the site before.

For some reason this isn't working for me. I replaced the .lua file, not the .txt one. It still has the unmoving armies problem. I'm on a mac if that makes a difference.

EDIT: Ok, figured it out. In case anybody else is having the same problem: Went into the .lua file with notepad. Found lines "ARMY_MOVEMENT_SPEED: 3" and "NAVY_MOVEMENT_SPEED: 30" or something like that and added .0 to the end of those numbers. That fixed it. Although it doesn't work if I load the improved borders or titular kingdoms submods. Haven't tried the two submods separately, but loading them up together broke the armies again.

Patch gave me the unmoveable armies bug, downloading the mediafire file and replacing the game of thrones lua file made things work for me. Thanks Ricky.

are you sure you are replacing the correct file defines.lua not defines.txt?
Open the defines.lua with notepad and check for this 2 lines
ARMY_MOVEMENT_SPEED
NAVY_MOVEMENT_SPEED

If not you dind't replace the file.
To check the file for a specific word use Ctrl + F and type what you want to find

This worked, but I was unable to play a game with a friend, as it said we had incompatible versions. Does adding/modifying a file like this cause that issue?

That is a CheckSum issue you and your friend need to have the same CheckSum the 4 letters in the bottom left of the screen near the game version
