Jon Connington spent his entire career trying to do nothing but impress Rhaegar, was incredibly jealous of how close Arthur Dayne was with him, almost singlehandedly lost the War of the Usurper because he wanted to impress Rhaegar by slaying Robert in personal combat, and spent the remainder of his life raising his child. Sounds like he was in love to me.
*okay, you're clear*
Yep the good ol' Battle of the Bells. Jon C. still has nightmares of those ringing bells. Just think though, on the flip-side, he could of single-handedly won the War of the Usurper if he met and defeated Robert. Although I personally doubt he could of taken Robert one-on-one.
Jon C did win a duel against Robert in one of my playthroughs as the Martell's, Stannis now still the Iron Throne in that after he won a duel with Rhaegar...
So 'Griff' may have had a small chance

Still theres nothing wrong with Blackfish being hetero or homo. I believe its more to do with a dislike of being ordered to do something he doesnt wish to do. Maybe he just didn't like the potential wives Hoster was promising to him. Or maybe he loved someone else (man or women, maybe Hoster's own wife?!) and could never have them so choose no one.
Yet with a family as small as the Tully's in the main line and with their words, I am surprised he didn't take a wife "Family, duty, honour." There's what? Two male Tullys now? I suppose if he did love Hosters own wife (no evidence just a theory I thought of while writing this now.) he is following the Tully words. He's respecting his Family as its his duty to his lord and he chooses to remain honourable rather than his own love of lady Tully.
