Any chances of their being an option to use these portraits?

For any gfx related subject (flags, portraits, icons, interface...)

Any chances of their being an option to use these portraits?

PostPosted by jagged0 » Wed Sep 30, 2015 03:46

I find vanilla portraits somewhat...well hideous so as an alternative I used Anime portraits (Can't post link) but I don't think they'll work with AGOT mod, so I was wondering how high are the chances for their being an option to use these portraits in AGOT in the future?

If you have the files, you just have to do some editing to the .gfx files.
Unpack the mod files, then look at the portrait_sprites.gfx file. Just replace the lines like gfx_western_male_beard_behind.gfx with the new lines from the anime mod.

Edit: You talking about this? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... =349588299
Still should be easy, just need to edit the graphic cultures in the GOT mod to add the new graphics from the aforementioned mods.

Sorry to necro a two month old thread, but did you have any luck making Anime Portraits work with AGOT? I really like the portrait mod and even made recolorings of Valyrian kids, but I'm getting misaligned features when trying to see it in-game.

For anyone still interested in this, I managed to get the portraits working (mostly)

You need to edit portrait_sprites.gfx to point to the correct texture as mentioned above, also it's important to edit the Noofframes value for every texture to correspond to the number of features in the anime portraits mod otherwise you will have misaligned face parts all over the place.

I aslo edited interface/portraits/portraits.gfx, portraits_valyrian.gfx etc like this:
"GFX_western_male_ear:d7:o27x54" -> "GFX_western_male_ear:d7"
basically delete the last offset value in relevant lines so that it corresponds to values used in AP mod. I don't know what this value is for exactly but before I edited it the face parts were floating somewhere above the face.

This is all a pretty time-consuming process and there are still issues, like for example my ruins and dothraki domains have kawaii anime eyes, there are issues with blinded/eyepatches, I haven't edited all of the essosi cultures to make them work correctly yet, the DNA of some characters is messed up - Stannis is now a long-haired fashion model and Varys isn't bald (well, nobody is bald anymore), but on the whole it's possible to make it work.

Now to fix all the issues and maybe add some custom graphics for example for dothraki hair and other stuff to accord for the lore and it'll fit to AGOT better than vanilla. After all ASOIAF is basically anime anyway what with the unnatural hair and eye colours everywhere, elfish looking long-haired princes, magic, over the top violence and sexually promiscuous underage girls.

Hey guys!
Ordy can you send files you are talking about? I know i'm just lazy :D but it would be very helpful if you gave them to us.
us = Crusader Kings 2 players that hate Paradox portraits and want some anime ones :)

I'm not sure I can share the modified files which use other modder's work without their permission... Regardless it's still not working perfectly as I mentioned, there are floating faces in Essos and other bugs, I just got tired of editing after getting Westerosi to work properly. You can achieve the same if you follow my instructions and it won't take more than an hour or two.

That would be sweet but I feel like its almost not worth the effort having looked into the recoding involved.
